March 31, 2009:  TechAmerica Report Shows that Tech Industry Remains Vital to California Economy
The Cyberstates 2009 report - which details national and state trends in high-tech employment, wages, and other key economic factors for all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico - shows that California's high-tech industry added 2,000 net jobs for an industry total of 942,700 in 2007, the most current year for which state data is available. This marks the third net increase in jobs since the tech bubble began to burst in 2000. Leading the way in job creation were computer systems design and related services (+12,600 jobs), R&D and testing labs (+8,800), and engineering services (+2,500 jobs)...read more.

September 23, 2008: California Ranks First in Exports in Six of the Eight High-Tech Sectors

New! Trade in the Cyberstates 2008 examines high-tech trade flows at the national level and tech goods exports for all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.  The report shows that nationally, high-tech is the largest merchandise export sector in the United States, with $214 billion in 2007.

May - July 2008:  AeA Hosts California Town Hall Meetings with State CIO
AeA once again partnered with the State of California to host four regional Town Hall meetings to continue a dialogue that started in 2005 to offer insights on doing business with the state, which is one of the world's largest buyers of technology goods and services.

"We have completed the series of IT Procurement Town Halls around the state and we have come away with some very good insights on how to improve the current process," said Teri Takai, Chief Information Officer for the State of California. "We thank AeA for organizing these events and look forward to continue working with them on these and other IT issues."

June 24, 2008:  Sacramento Tech Workers Earn Twice the Average Private Sector Wage, Reports AeA

Cybercities 2008 examines the high-tech industry in the nation’s 60 largest metro areas focusing on tech employment, wages, establishments, payroll, employment concentration, and wage differential. The report compares different U.S. regions and delves into the 16 sectors that comprise the high-tech industry for these 60 cities.

April 22-23, 2008:  AeA Celebrates 22nd Annual Tech Summit and Lobby Day in Sacramento

There were over 3,000 bills that were introduced and considered during the first year of our current two year legislative session in California.  AeA successfully represented the interests of the Technology Industry in a multitude of subject matters ranging from the creation of a State CIO, Internet Privacy, Elective Sales Factor, R&D Tax Credit Enhancement to promoting Online Learning in Classrooms, Chemical Substance Bans in Electronic Products and even an attempted all out ban of a specified Technology (RFID).
